| Dunlop Aerogel is truly a space age material. It is the world's lightest solid and has a strength of up to 4,000 times its own weight. The three dimensional nanometer-sized molecular network delivers an unmatched strength to weight ratio for enhanced stiffness and increased power.
Prepare to experience the perfect match. To complement the raw power of Aerogel, Dunlop has strategically inserted 4D brading touchpoints around the frame adding up to 33% more stability and control. 33% Softer for unbeatable touch and feel. Hit it as hard as you want and paint the lines! 4D stands for 4 directional braiding. It is constructed using four braided fibres of superlight S-glass fiber wrapped in an aluminum alloy sheath. The fibers are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and -22 degrees orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multi directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only oriented in one direction. This means that one layer of 4D material has the equivalent properties to four layers of standard carbon layed up at different orientations. Consequently 4D material is four times more effective than standard carbon. Furthermore, by using one layer, 4D is also softer and less bulky than 4 layers of carbon. |
